Notes The Whig Ladies of Richmond ultimately commissioned Joel T. Hart to create a statue that now resides at the State Capitol bulding. The statue was not finished until 1859 due to the loss of the model at sea and Hart being occupied with an invention. The statue was dedicated in 1860. (See Amyx, The Potraits of Henry Clay, manuscript in curator's office).
